Due to COVID, guidelines and restrictions have been put in place by various state agencies that are going to change the way Cental MA's sports' daily practice, game and transportation schedules and procedures have looked in years past. Please be patient as we get that information out to the community.

TEAM SELECTION PROCESS -
Selection will be based on the following criteria:
Knowledge of Offensive/Defensive Concepts
Team size will be determined by the coach. Players that are not selected to the team will be spoken to privately and user fees will be returned.
Times of Varsity and JV practices vary and will be determined at the start of the season.
Middle School practices are generally after school from 2:30 – 4:00 pm and generally do not practice on the weekend.
Players are expected to be at all practices unless absent from school.
Before trying out for a team, each player should determine whether they can meet the time commitment that is necessary for the good of the team.
Games for Middle School are at 3:30 and 4:30. Generally the MS Boys play at 3:30 and the MS Girls play at 4:30 the first half of the schedule and then it is reversed for the second half. Both teams travel on the same bus. Parents need to pick up their child at Tahanto when the bus arrives from the away site.
Varsity and JV Games are generally at 3:30. Both teams travel on the same bus. Parents need to pick up their child at Tahanto when the bus arrives from the away site.
Players should dress appropriately…cleats, t-shirts, running shoes, etc
Players are responsible for their uniforms. Any player that loses his/her uniform is obligated to pay the replacement cost.
Varsity – No player is guaranteed playing time; every effort will be made to allow each player to contribute to the success of the team on a regular basis
JV – Every effort will be made to give each JV player the opportunity to play in the game provided they have attended practices, have displayed a positive attitude and have not violated any school/team rules
MS - Every effort will be made to give each MS player the opportunity to play in the game provided they have attended practices, have displayed a positive attitude and have not violated any school/team rules
All team members must ride the bus to and from away games when a bus is provided.
Middle School students may ride home with their parent/guardian provided they have brought in a note to the main office on the day of the game. (It must be the parent/guardian of the student that they are riding with NOT someone else’s parents)
Please make arrangements to pick your son/daughter up from the practices at the time that practice is over and from the games when the bus arrives back at Tahanto.
Communication regarding practices, game schedules, cancellations etc. can be found on the Tahanto athletic web site. Please check the site on a regular basis as changes are made frequently due to weather, cancellations, gym availability, etc. Each team has their own web page where the information for that team can be found.
When parents or players have a problem, concern, or question please contact the coach of the team. The coach’s contact information can be found on the Tahanto athletic web site by selecting the team and the Coach tab. If there is a general question please contact the athletic director.
We strongly encourage players to talk to their coaches when they have questions or concerns.
Please do not coach your son/daughter from the bleachers.Every parent wants to help their child succeed and it’s your parental instinct to want to do so at all times, even during the games. You should help your child succeed, but not during the game. Talk with them before the game, talk with them after the game, but during the game, that’s the coach’s job and the players’ opportunity to perform on their own. Remember the coach is the only one that is there at all practices and is coaching ALL of the players.
We believe the parents’ roles are to be our biggest fans and offer positive encouragement to all members of the team.
Parents play a vital role in supporting our athletes and in the team’s overall success. Exemplary sportsmanship will be expected from parents toward our players, coaches, officials, and our opponents. Please allow officials to officiate, coaches to coach, and players to take direction from their coaches.
