PRACTICES
Players are expected to be at all practices unless absent from school. Parents will need to pick their child up from practice in a timely manner, please.
Before trying out for a team, each player should determine whether they can meet the time commitment that is necessary for the good of the team.
GAMES
Times for Games are generally at 4, 4:30 or 5 for Varsity, 5:30, 6 or 6:30 following the Varsity game for JV.
Parents will need to pick their child up from home games which will be located at Tahanto on the field inside the track.
For away games, parents need to pick up their child up at Tahanto when the bus arrives from the away site.
EQUIPMENT
Players should have their personal sports bag at every practice and game. Each player should have enough water for their personal consumption during practice or a game and their own hand sanitizer and masks if needed/wanted.
Players should dress appropriately…sneakers, t-shirt, shorts.
Players should have BOTH cleats and sneakers at each practice as some running will be done on the track.
Sneakers are required for indoor practices.
Each player will be assigned a reversible scrimmage vest that they should wear to practice daily.
Players must supply their own lacrosse goggles that are SEI certified, (see below), a colored mouth guard, (not white or clear), and a women's lacrosse stick. Gloves are optional.
US Lacrosse changed the safety requirements for women's and girls' lacrosse eyewear, starting in January of 2020. Eyewear must meet the ASTM Standard F3077-2017 since the 2020 season.
Certification for new goggles is stamped on the silicone of the goggles.
Players are responsible for their uniforms. Any player that loses his/her uniform is obligated to pay the replacement cost.
PLAYING TIME
Varsity - Based on skill level, attendance, and coach's decision.
JV – Every effort will be made to give each JV player the opportunity to play in the game provided they have attended practices, have displayed a positive attitude and have not violated any school/team rules
TRANSPORTATION
All team members must ride the bus to away games when a bus is provided.
Please make arrangements to pick your daughter up from the practices at the time that practice is over and from the games when the bus arrives back at Tahanto.
COMMUNICATION
Information regarding practices, game schedules, cancellations etc. can be found on the Tahanto athletic web site. Please check the site on a regular basis as changes are made frequently due to weather, cancellations, gym availability, etc. Each team has their own page on the web site where you can find this information.
If parents or players have a problem, concern, or question please contact the coach of the team. The coach’s contact information can be found on the Tahanto athletic web site. If there is a general question please contact the athletic director.
We strongly encourage players to talk to their coaches when they have questions or concerns.
SPECTATOR CONDUCT
We ask that you do not coach your son/daughter from the bleachers. Every parent wants to help their child succeed and it’s your parental instinct to want to do so at all times, even during the games. You should help your child succeed, but not during the game. Talk with them before the game, talk with them after the game, but during the game, that’s the coach’s job and the players’ opportunity to perform on their own. Remember the coach is the only one that is there at all practices and is coaching ALL of the players. We believe the parents’ roles are to be our biggest fans and offer positive encouragement to all members of the team. Parents play a vital role in supporting our athletes and in the team’s overall success. Exemplary sportsmanship will be expected from parents toward our players, coaches, officials, and our opponents. Please allow officials to officiate, coaches to coach, and players to take direction from their coaches.
