Re: Winter Sport Spectators

As we are sure you are aware, COVID-19 rates of infection have been increasing very rapidly in Massachusetts.

This reality once again places the Midland-Wachusett League in the position of balancing a prudent approach to public health and safety with the needs of our students to be in school for in person learning while also experiencing a range of healthy activities including extracurricular clubs and sports.

With all of these factors in mind, at this time attendance at winter sports games and competitions will be limited to the parents and immediate household members of players on the teams competing in a game. Admission to all other fans will not be permitted until further notice including members of the student body.

This change will allow our student-athletes to continue to compete in activities they enjoy while still having the experience of performing before supporters, albeit on a more limited scale. This change also takes health and safety concerns into serious consideration by greatly reducing the risk of exposure to COVID-19 for team members and all in attendance.

As always, all family and household members who are planning to attend winter athletic events are asked to stay home if they feel ill or are exhibiting symptoms associated with COVID-19, and must wear a properly fitting mask that covers the nose and mouth.

The spectator policy for swimming and indoor track league events remain the status quo. We will be re-evaluating this policy in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
