CROSS COUNTRY
INFORMATION AND TEAM POLICIES
Due to COVID, guidelines and restrictions have been put in place by various state agencies that are going to change the way Cental MA's sports' daily practice, game and transportation schedules and procedures have looked in years past. Please be patient as we get that information out to the community.
UPDATE (9/18)
Practice will begin on Monday, September 21st. We plan to practice all five weekdays, beginnng at 2:45. All students learning at the school should meet at the corner of the field hockey field complex to walk down to the course as a group. All students learning remotely should be dropped off directly at the cross country course (Located at the reservoir gate where Main St. and Cross St. intersect). Runners should come prepared with comfortable running clothes, running shoes, a watch, their own water bottle, and several masks. Runners can be picked up directly from the cross country course.

TEAM SELECTION PROCESS
Cross country is an inclusive program with all athletes welcome to participate. However, every athlete is expected to fully commit to attending all scheduled practices and competitions.
PRACTICES
Practices generally run from 2:30 – 4:00 PM on Monday through Friday. There is occasionally a practice one day on the weekend.
Athletes are expected to be at all practices unless absent from school.
Before joining a team, each athlete should determine whether they can meet the time commitment that is necessary for the good of the program.
MEETS
Meets start at 3:30 and end around 5:30. Boys and Girls teams travel to away meets on the same bus. Parents need to pick up their child at Tahanto when the bus arrives from the away site.
EQUIPMENT
Athletes should dress appropriately for their event and the weather (sneakers, t-shirt, shorts, sweats).
Athletes are responsible for their uniforms. Any athlete that loses his/her uniform is obligated to pay the replacement cost.
TRANSPORTATION
All team members must ride the bus to away meets when a bus is provided.
Middle School students may ride home with their parent/guardian provided they have brought in a note to the main office on the day of the meet. (It must be the parent/guardian of the student that they are riding with NOT someone else’s parents)
Please make arrangements to pick your son/daughter up from the practices at the time that practice is over and from the meets when the bus arrives back at Tahanto.
COMMUNICATION
Communication regarding practices, meet schedules, cancellations etc. can be found on the Tahanto athletic web site. Please check the site on a regular basis as changes are made frequently due to weather, cancellations, etc. Each team has their own web page where the information for that team can be found
If parents or athletes have a problem, concern, or question please contact the coach of the team. The coach’s contact information can be found on the Tahanto athletic web site by selecting the team and the Coach tab. If there is a general question please contact the athletic directorIfWe strongly encourage athletes to talk to their coaches when they have questions or concerns.
